Drop-Front Desk Lid Folding Stay
This print-in-place two-link folding stay replaces the snapped friction support on a drop-front secretary desk, a hinged school-desk lid or a blanket chest. It prints as one assembly of four pieces joined by three 5 mm pins with 0.5 mm running clearance. Pivot to pivot it reaches 144 mm when straight, and the load runs along the links in the layer plane. A flat 36 × 24 mm plate screws to the cabinet side and a gusseted 24 × 28 mm L-bracket screws to the lid. Both take #6 wood screws (3.5 mm shank) through 4.0 mm clearance holes: the side plate has countersinks, and the lid bracket needs pan-head screws.
