Capacitive Soil Sensor Hooded Garden Stake
A 176 x 44 mm ribbed garden stake with a 24.6 mm channel that holds the common capacitive soil-moisture probe (v1.2 style, about 23 mm wide). It is held in with two pairs of zip-tie slots. A 10 mm-deep drip hood covers the electronics end, there is a 10 x 7 mm cable notch, and a slot for a zip-tie strain relief on the lead. You push the stake into the ground by the shoulder at the top of the spike. The channel and hood are sized slightly oversize so boards from different brands fit, and you never have to drill the PCB.
