Recessed Toilet Roll Holder Retrofit Frame

This frame replaces the rusted stamped-metal toilet paper holder recessed into a 1960s–80s wall. Those holders aren't made any more. A 180 x 160 mm face flange covers wall openings up to about 170 x 150 mm and screws on through four slotted #8 holes. Two 50 mm deep cheeks go into the hole, which must be at least 140 mm wide and 75 mm tall. They hold a 127 mm length of 1/2 in Schedule 40 PVC (21.3 mm OD) that serves as the spindle. Each 22.5 mm seat is slanted at 45°, so you can lift the spindle out from the front to change the roll. Rolls up to 118 mm wide fit.
